Western Michigan vs. Eastern Michigan Post Game Quotes

Sophomore Quarterback Alex Carder

On being in sync with the offense:

"It's the truth. We're on the same page so much so, I don't see anybody who can really stop as far as defense goes. These guys are two great athletes, and my job is to just get the ball to them any way that I can."

Senior Wide Receiver Juan Nunez

On being able to score and make plays:

"It's so much fun. You want to give a thumbs up to the quarterback. I thank Alex for the good ball placement. I just went out there and made the play."

Senior Wide Receiver Jordan White

On being in sync with the rest of the offense:

"I definitely can. I thought we could most of these weeks out here. I think today definitely we were on the same page. Maybe some other games we weren't as much so as we were today, like at Idaho, and that cost us in past games. I think from today we can see where we're at and what we need to do."

Junior Linebacker Mitch Zajac

Thoughts on today's defense:

"It's just small stuff that's plagued us all year. We had opportunities but we didn't take advantage of them. When we don't get off the field it gets to be a long drive and it wears on you. The offense deserves a lot of credit today. I talked to Alex before the game and said, 'You might have to carry us today.' They did, and it was awesome."

Head Coach Bill Cubit

Thoughts on the game:

"In the beginning I thought we moved the ball very well, and then Eastern got the tempo. There were a lot of young kids running around out there. The big thing for them was that they had the ball for 40 minutes. I've never been on this side to only have had the ball for 20 minutes. Fortunately we had their two fumbles. I thought the kids played hard, and at one point I looked out there and saw six freshmen running around. I thought offensively they took responsibility because they knew our defense was struggling. 45 points in 48 plays, that's pretty good."

On the Trio:

"Alex, Juan and Jordan, they're playing pretty well. We only threw the ball 21 times. We were pretty effective at 17. It's a pretty good ratio. You also have to give credit to the backs. But those three are playing pretty well."

On giving up 500 yards:

"We'll be fine in the coming weeks. I don't think people are going to let us score that quickly, so that will help out. Now these kids have some experience. Like I said, I looked out there at one point and had six freshmen running around. Even though the one play where two of our freshmen got hurt, they were flying at the ball, but they couldn't' wait to get back in. We found out our snapper on Thursday had mono. There's two guys that you don't want to lose, your quarterback and your long snapper. But Kirk (Nakama) really stepped up for us, and you guys probably didn't even notice."
