WMU at Ball State Post-Game Notes

PRE-GAME

• The last time WMU defeated Ball State, it was Oct. 21, 2006 on BSU's homecoming and Ryan Cubit (current WMU QB coach) was the starting quarterback
• WMU's Ameer Ismail tied the NCAA record for sacks in a game (6.0) the last time WMU defeated Ball State
• Juan Nunez enters game with a 24-game reception streak
• Raheam Buxton and Demetrius Pettway will get their first career starts this week
• Jordan White enters the week ranked fifth in the nation in receptions and receiving yards per game, and ninth in total receiving yards
• WMU enters its fourth game of the year with a 1-3 record for the 24th time in program history and the first time since 2007
• Today is WMU Football SID Mat Kanan's birthday (sorry, had to throw it in there)

FIRST QUARTER

• Alex Jagels and Jamail Berry serve as the game captains for WMU

• Alex Carder rushes for two TDs in a game for first time in his career
• Demetrius Pettway causes first career fumble, recovered by Jamail Berry

SECOND QUARTER

• John Potter rushes for his first career TD (8 yds) on a fake FG
• WMU allows BSU first down for only second time in game (penalty, rush)
• Most points in the first half (31) for WMU
• WMU punted for the first time in the game at the 1:40 mark of the second quarter
• Drew Nowak caused and recovered WMU's fifth take away of the game
• WMU's 31 points is the most in a half this season (28 in the second half vs. Nicholls State)

THIRD QUARTER

• Alex Carder rushes for third TD of the game
• WMU forces fourth fumble of the game on Freddie Bishop's strip
• Tevin Drake had 63 yards on six carries (10.5 yds per carry) through three quarters
• Drake's 63 yards are the most by any running back in a game so far this season
• Juan Nunez hauls in a receiving TD for first time since opener at Michigan State
• Alex Carder has at least one passing TD in every game this season

FOURTH QUARTER

• Johnnie Simon's PBU gives Western Michigan five on the day - he is the fourth Bronco with at least one PBU
• WMU has forced a season high five turn overs
• WMU scores more than 40 points in multiple games in a season for the sixth-straight season
• WMU has scored over 40 points in a road MAC game for the second year in a row (58 at Toledo)
