WMU vs. Idaho Post-Game Quotes

Idaho Head Coach Robb Akey:

On facing adversity:

"They responded well. I was happy about that. I was happy about the way we got back into things. We dealt with adversity throughout the course of the game and we had to be whoever we wanted to be coming out in the second half. We came out in the second half, played hard and played well and finished. There are a number of things that can be done better and there are a number of things that were done well. I'm happy about the step forward we made in this game and the direction we can now go in with this team."

On the defensive effort:

"Our guys challenged things well. Our players did a good job executing a good scheme provided by the coaching staff. Our guys played hard and played with confidence and with belief and that makes a lot happen. When you start making plays it makes the momentum shift towards your team. You see guys start swarming things. And that's what you see when you see us play well during the season."

On 4th down conversions:

"We had some great situations. Our guys put us close to the marker. This is a situation where you have a chance to make a difference and if you can steal one on a fourth down it makes a heck of an impact on another team, and it could on your team also. I want our offense to know I have faith in them to get the job done. It also tells our defense that I have faith in them to go out there and get the job done, and to make some things like that happen. I think that's a good situation and our team responded well to us."

On the road win:

"We're back to feeling good about things again. We got some goals accomplished. We got our first road win. We also have got a winning non-conference schedule completed and secured. That's in the books, and now we're going into the bye week smiling. Now we have a chance to take care of some bodies, take care of some minds and get ourselves ready for the next season, which is the WAC season."

WMU Head Coach Bill Cubit

Thoughts on the game-

"Not good. I don't know what else to say. I thought we did some really good things last week. They took some things away. They banged Alex on the very first play. There were opportunities with passes, and we didn't complete many of them. I think defense, we're still playing again. But they got so many points because of field position.  Just not good, you can call it what it is."

On losing composure-

"You don't act like that. You don't deserve to wear the uniform.  When you think the game is more than yourself, it doesn't work. They sat, I'll play somebody else. They can sit on the sides and watch the game, they were two selfish guys. I don't know if they'll play next week, I've got to watch the film. I'm not going to sacrifice principals. There's a way to represent this team, and if you don't adhere to it, you don't play."

Thoughts on Alex Carder-

"The problem is we rely on him so much. He made some misreads, and he's going to take some shots. We need to protect him on his drop back passes. We ask him to do a lot, and he took some shots early and he missed some in the first half."

WMU Quarterback Alex Carder-

Thoughts on the game-

"It was alright though. I just didn't play well, not as well as I could have or should have. I'm disappointed about that. I let the team down, and it's something I don't ever want to do."

WMU Wide Receiver Jordan White

On his dropped T.D. catch-

"That's exactly what it was. I just didn't make the play. I can't make excuses for it, I just didn't catch the ball."

WMU Safety Jamail Berry

Thoughts on the defense-

"As a defense, we knew what we had to do. We didn't execute like we were supposed to. We're never satisfied, look at the score. We just need to get the ball, and make plays. Little things come back to bite you."
