WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Western Michigan's golf team competed against three of the nation's top-25 teams at Saturday's Ladies Midwest Shootout hosted by No. 9 Purdue at Kampen Golf Club at the Birck Boilermakers Golf Complex.  The Broncos finished seventh as a pair of Broncos recorded top-25 individual finishes.

In WMU's final tune up before the Mid-American Conference Championships two weeks from now the Broncos competed against the No. 9, 20 and 23 teams along with seven other teams at the one-day event in West Lafayette, Ind.  Western Michigan improved 10 strokes on its morning round to finish the tournament alone in seventh place for the team's fifth top-10 finish of the year.

Britney Hamilton and Elise Swartout registered top-25 finishes, placing in ties for 16th and 23rd, respectively.  Leah Grawburg celebrated the best finish of her freshman season, in a tie for 28th place.  Briana May and Stephanie Koske also had their best finishes of the season, placing in ties for 34th and 45th, respectively.

No. 23 Kent State captured the team title with a two-round score of 610, five strokes better than second-place No. 20 Vanderbilt.  The host Boilermakers finished fourth, one stroke behind Ball State (624).

Western Michigan will have less than two weeks before facing the Golden Flashes and Cardinals, as well as the rest of the MAC opponents that will be in Nashport, Ohio for the 72-hole MAC Championships on April 24-26.
