KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan had difficulty slowing down the Spartans' high-powered offense as the Broncos fell to Michigan State, 6-0, Wednesday at the WMU Soccer Complex.
Michigan State (3-4-0) scored three goals in both halves. Spencer Thompson, Doug DeMartin and Cyrus Sadee each had three-point days, recording a goal and an assist apiece. Jeff Ricondo, Colin Givens and Rubin Bega also had goals for the Spartans.
Freshman goaltender Paul Lewis made just his second appearance and first career start for Western Michigan (1-7-1) and played all 90 minutes in goal. He faced 21 shots, nine on goal, and made three saves.
The Broncos managed just four shots, Trevor McEnroe leading the way with two. Andy Gasiorek placed WMU's only attempt on goal.
Western Michigan returns to action on Sunday, hosting Mid-American Conference foe Florida Atlantic at noon. It will be the first conference game for the Brown & Gold.
