Mary Fossum Invitational Final Results
EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Western Michigan golf team completed play at the Mary Fossum
Invitational hosted by Michigan State at the Forest Akers West Golf
Course in East Lansing, Mich. Elise Swartout led WMU, finishing in a
tie for 17th, while freshman Leah Grawburg carded the team's lowest
round of the day.
Swartout tied the Spartans' Holly Niederkohr in 17th place at 13-over par, 12 shots back of individual medalist Kirby Dreher of Kent State. Britney Hamilton finished in a four-way tie for 22nd place. She and Swartout have been the top-two finishers for Western Michigan during the season's first two tournaments.
Grawburg carded a 7-over par 79 for the Broncos lowest round of the final day. Host Michigan State and Kent State tied for the team title with a score of 891. The Broncos, finishing 10th for the second-straight tournament to open 2008-09, finished ahead of Mid-American Conference rival Toledo and one shot back of Eastern Michigan.
WMU golf will have two weeks off between tournaments when the team travels to Daytona, Fla., for the Xavier Invitational to be held at the LPGA International Golf Course.
