AKRON, Ohio- The Western Michigan men's soccer season came to a close with a 4-0 quarterfinal loss to Hartwick in the Mid-American Conference Tournament Thursday night.
Hartwick scored off a corner kick just before the half to take a 1-0 lead and added three more goals in the second period to oust Western Michigan from the conference tournament for the second-straight season. The Broncos finish 2008 with an overall record of 3-15-1, 2-4-0 MAC.
The Hawks' first goal was scored on a header off a corner kick in the 42nd minute. The Broncos had a defensive lapse to start the second half and gave up two more goals four minutes apart in the 56th and 60th minutes. Hartwick tacked on its fourth tally with just under 15 minutes remaining.
Senior striker Liam Parrington led the attack with two of the four goals, while sophomore Owen Botting recorded a pair of assists.
Western Michigan was limited to just seven shots, three on goal and just one corner kick. Hartwick fired off 23 shots and had nine corner opportunities. Sophomore WMU goalie
