For the second time in as many seasons, the Western Michigan golf team will compete at the Ross Resorts Invitational held at Pine Needles in Pinehurst, N.C.  The event, hosted by Rollins College out of Florida, features 10 teams from all three NCAA divisions and the Broncos are the only Mid-American Conference entrant.

Western Michigan closes out its fall season on Oct. 27-28 with a 54-hole tournament at Pine Needles Golf Lodge & Golf Club.  The Broncos' only other participation in the event came a season ago with WMU finishing 11th with a three-round score of 975.  Elise Swartout, Britney Hamilton and Stephanie Koske are the only team members who will return for this year's tournament.  Current WMU volunteer coach Laura Bavaird was the Bronco's top finisher in 2007, tying for 14th place.

The Rollins women's golf team will host the 2008 Ross Resorts Invitaional at Pine Needles.  The event features the host, Rollins, as well as Augusta State, Bucknell, Illinois State, Memphis, Methodist, North Carolina State, Nova Souteastern, the Broncos and Yale.

The first Ross Resorts Invitational was played Nov. 6, 2000 and has rotated between Pine Needles and Mid-Pines courses.  Play returns to Pine Needles this year for the first time since 2005. 

The teams will play 36 holes on Monday, Oct. 27, followed by a final 18 holes on Tuesday, Oct. 28.  Results will be available at www.wmubroncos.com at the conclusion of each day's competition.  Western Michigan's next tournament will take place in Sedona, Ariz. (Feb. 28-March 1) at the Red Rocks Invitational.
