Hiller and West Take MAC West POTW Honors

CLEVELAND ? Sophomore quarterback Tim Hiller (Orville, Ohio/ Orrville HS) and sophomore running back Brandon West (Brunswick, Ga,/Camden County) each earned Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week Honors for their accomplishments in the Broncos 28-19 victory over Iowa.

West captured his third Special Teams Player of the Week award of the season and Hiller earned his first Offensive Player of the Week honor. West set a single-season Western Michigan record for all-purpose yards in a season with 2,065 after rushing for 116 yards, earning 82 yards on four kick returns and 93 yards receiving for a total of 291. West is one of three players in the MAC within striking distance of the conference record for all-purpose yards in a season of 2,294 yards set in 1994, held by Brian Pruitt of Central Michigan. The Brunswick, Ga. native had a 32-yard touchdown reception in the Broncos' win at Iowa and ranks 11th in the nation in all-purpose yards.

Tim Hiller passed for 367 yards and three touchdowns in the win. The Orrville, Ohio native completed 26-of-45 attempts and did not throw an interception. Coming into the game, Iowa had one of the top passing defenses in the Big Ten, allowing only 216.6 yards per game through the air. The Bronco offensive line did not give up a sack, allowing Hiller to complete passes to seven different receivers. Hiller currently ranks third in the MAC in passer efficiency, fourth in yards per game with 249.5 and fourth in touchdown passes with 19.

Western Michigan concludes its season on Nov. 24, when Temple visits Waldo Stadium at 2 p.m.
