TOLEDO, Ohio - Junior Carrie Moore scored a game-high 23 points in the Broncos (73-71) victory at Toledo on Saturday night in Savage Hall.  WMU earned its second straight Mid-American Conference game improving its league record to 3-2 in the MAC and 6-10 overall.  Toledo falls to 1-4 in league play and 6-9 overall.

The win at Toledo marks the first win for the Brown & Gold in Savage Hall since 2002.

WMU had three more players in double figures tonight besides Moore.  Junior Lindsey Brown added 17 points while sophomore Amanda Parker ended the night with 13.  Senior Casey Rost was a bucket short of becoming the all-time leading scorer at Western Michigan with 12 points.

Toledo jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the opening minutes of play.  The Broncos went on a 5-0 run to make the score 7-5 with 17:03 left in the first half.  Toledo continued to score at the other end but the Broncos rallied back after 3-pointers from Parker, Moore and Rost to take a 16-15 lead over the Rockets with 13:22 left in the half.

After two ties Toledo edged ahead of the Broncos eventually building a 13-point lead with 25 seconds left in the first period.  Brown's lay-up right before the buzzer cut the Rockets lead to 11 (48-37) at halftime.

Strong defense and leadership played a big role for the Broncos in the second half.  A steal and lay-up from Moore cut Toledo's lead to nine (50-41) at the 18:34 mark then a basket by Parker cut the Rockets lead to seven (50-43) with 17:34 left in the game.

WMU kept creeping up on UT eventually tying the game (63-63) after a lay-up from Moore with 4:36 on the clock.

The Broncos took a four point lead (67-63) after a jumper from Brown at the 2:49 mark.  Rost extended WMU's lead to seven (70-63) just seconds later with a 3-point basket.

Toledo rallied back to come within five with 11 seconds left but a free throw from senior Maria Jilian sealed the (73-71) victory despite UT's efforts.

WMU continues league action when it hosts Ohio University on Jan. 25 in University Arena.  The game is slated for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
