COLUMBIA, Mo. - Senior Casey Rost scored 25 points in the Broncos 84-65 loss at Missouri on Thursday night in Mizzou Arena. The Western Michigan women's basketball team drops to 3-7 overall while Missouri improves their overall record to 10-2.
The Tigers LaToya Bond led all scorers with 34 total points.
Junior Carrie Moore added 16 points on the night for the Broncos while classmate Lindsey Brown had 13 points.
Senior Maria Jilian played for the first time since the 2004-05 season. Jilian had four points and played 20-minutes.
The Brown & Gold scored two straight baskets in the opening minutes to take a quick 4-0 lead over the Tigers.
Rost's lay-up with 18:13 left in the first half sparked a 9-0 run for the Broncos that eventually earned them a 13-4 lead. The Broncos largest lead of the half came after a two-pointer from Rost which made it a 17-6 ball game at the 9:32 mark.
Missouri rallied back to come within six points (34-28) of the Broncos to end the half.
The Broncos had a seven-point lead (39-32) in the start of the second half before Missouri went on an 8-0 run to take their first lead of the night with 13:34 left to play.
After WMU fell behind for the first time in the game the Tigers continued to build their lead winning the game, 84-65.
WMU women's basketball will close out the year at IUPUI on Dec. 31. The game is slated for 2:00 p.m.
