MIAMI, Fla. -  The Western Michigan University women's basketball team (0-2) lost a (66-65) heartbreaker to host Florida International (3-0) at the FIU Thanksgiving Classic on Friday evening in Pharmed Arena.

Junior Lindsey Brown led all scorers with 18 points while adding eight rebounds for the Broncos.  Senior Casey Rost and teammate junior Carrie Moore each had 16 points respectively on the night.  Sophomore Amanda Parker also managed double digits with 10 points.

For the game the Broncos were out rebounded by the Panthers 47-to-37.  Rost was 2-of-3 from the 3-point line and 6-of-12 from the field.

The Panthers scored back-to-back baskets at the start of the second half to take a (33-31) lead. 

Moore scored a lay-up with 16:16 left in the game to give the Broncos a (36-35) edge over FIU.  Shots from Moore, Brown and Rost gave WMU its biggest lead of the half (50-43) at the 10:23 mark. 

FIU went on a 7-0 run to tie the game at (50-50) with just over eight minutes to go in the half. 

Parker shot two good free throws and added a 3-pointer to bring WMU within one-point (60-59) with 3:22 left to play. 

A jumper from Moore gave the Broncos a 3-point lead (63-60) just under the two minute mark.

The game would endure two ties and two lead changes before FIU's Lesma Jekabsone would shoot a lay-up with just two seconds left on the clock to win the ball game (66-65).

The Broncos opened up the ball game with a jumper from Rost.  WMU trailed the Panthers 6-8 at the 15:09 mark before Moore sparked a 10-0 run after a lay-up to give the Brown & Gold a 16-8 lead.  The Panthers would fight back to cut the Broncos lead to three (31-28) going into the half.

WMU will play in the consolation game of the FIU Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 26 against the  American game.  The game is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
