James DeCosemo joined the women's soccer program as an assistant coach in July of 2025 after spending the previous three seasons as the head coach at Aquinas.
In his time with the Saints, he posted a 55-5-6 record, which is an .879 winning percentage. Along with that, Aquinas never lost to a WHAC game under his guidance. In just three seasons, DeCosemo coached three WHAC Offensive Players of the Year, two WHAC Defensive Players of the Year, one WHAC Midfielder of the Year, 10 NAIA All-Americans, 19 All-WHAC First Team selections, six All-WHAC Second Team selections and four members of the All-WHAC Newcomer Team.
The Saints reached the NAIA National Tournament in each of his three seasons on the sidelines, including trips to the quarterfinals in 2022 and 2023. That is the furthest a women's soccer team has ever gone in the history of the program. Aquinas has earned WHAC regular season titles in each of the last three seasons and won the WHAC Tournament in 2022 and 2024.
Attending college at Northwood University, DeCosemo graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He was a four-year starter at Northwood University from 2012-2016, while also serving as team captain for three years. DeCosemo earned First Team All-GLIAC and First Team All-Region honors, while helping the Timberwolves advance to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen during his senior season.
