Theresa Chacon joined the WMU Athletic Training staff in October of 2017. She is responsible for the coverage of women’s basketball and women’s track and field.
Prior to joining the Broncos, Theresa worked with the Hungarian National Women’s Volleyball team in Budapest, Hungary for the 2016 season. She also spent time working with various club and professional level volleyball players in Germany. Prior to working in Europe, she worked as an Athletic Training Assistant from 2014-2016 at Coastal Carolina University, providing coverage for the women’s indoor and beach volleyball teams.
A native of New Mexico, Theresa attended Eastern New Mexico University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education, with a minor in Athletic Training in 2012. While at ENMU, Chacon was on the track and field, and cross country teams. She then went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Athletic Training from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 2014. During her clinical rotations there, she gained experience working with women’s basketball, softball, and hockey. Theresa had a student internship working with the Colorado Rush U16-U18 soccer clubs as well as the Colorado Rush semi-professional women’s soccer team.
Chacon is a Board certified Athletic Trainer and member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. She has an additional certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and is also a certified Neurokinetic Therapy Practitioner.
