Kyle Murray

Kyle Murray joined the Western Michigan football program as the Assistant Director of Football Strength and Conditioning in July 2018. He will work alongside Director Grant Geib, helping oversee the Bronco football performance program.
 
Murray comes to Western Michigan from EXOS in Jacksonville N.C., where he was a Tactical Strength and Conditioning Coach. Murray designed and executed strength and conditioning programs for Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC). He worked with high ranking military and government officials to help support the mission and vision of MARSOC and communicated with dieticians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and psychologists to develop a comprehensive wellness plan for MARSOC operators.
 
Prior to his time at EXOS, Murray was an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Purdue from June 2014 to May 2017. He assisted with the football team, while designing and executing strength and conditioning programs for the baseball and men’s tennis teams. He also acted as the internship program and facilities coordinator and served as the strength and conditioning liaison to the Sports Nutrition Department.
 
Murray began his professional career at Rutgers, working with the Scarlet Knights from August 2010 to June 2014. He assisted with the football program and oversaw the strength and conditioning for wrestling, men’s soccer, men’s lacrosse and women’s lacrosse.
 
Murray earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Towson University in 2006. He went on to obtain a master’s degree in applied health physiology from Salisbury University in 2009. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is accredited as a Level 1 Sport Performance Coach through the USAW. He is also CPR/AED certified through the American Red Cross.
