Josh Gattis joined the Western Michigan football staff on Jan. 25, 2011 as the program's new wide receivers coach.  He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars after a stellar playing career as a safety at Wake Forest.  Gattis will use his expertise as a defender to prepare the Bronco receivers.

Gattis received honorable mention for Sports Illustrated All-America as a junior and a senior, earning All-ACC honors as a safety both years at Wake Forest. During his career he racked up 12 career interceptions, including a career best five during both the 2005 and 2006 seasons. He started 32 of 47 games played, made a total of 253 tackles, had 17 pass break ups, five fumble recoveries and six forced fumbles as a Demon Deacon. Gattis was also invited to both the 2007 Senior Bowl and East-West Shrine Game.

The Durham, N.C., native spent time with both the Jaguars and the Chicago Bears during his professional playing career (2007-09). After he accepted a position as an offensive graduate assistant in player development at the University of North Carolina. He spent the 2010 season assisting UNC's wide receivers coach Charlie Williams and offensive coordinator John Shoop.

Gattis (27/DOB: 1-15-84) earned his bachelor of arts degree in sociology from Wake Forest University in December of 2006.
