Gavin Roberts

Gavin Roberts is in his second season as the assistant director of strength and conditioning at Western Michigan. Roberts brings high school, Power 5 conference and professional experience through previous stints at Purdue and his experience as one of the lead coaches at Bommarito Performance Systems.

While at Purdue, Roberts was a scholarship football player from 2008-13. He was a safety and moved to running back after his sophomore year.

After completing his undergrad, Roberts joined the Purdue Sports Performance staff. Roberts worked with softball, men's tennis and men's basketball. After a last place Big Ten finish in men's basketball during his first season, the Boilermakers rebounded the following season with a second place finish and an NCAA Tournament bid.

Prior to his current role, Roberts worked at one of the top training facilities in the country with Pete Bommarito at Bommarito Performance Systems. During his tenure there Roberts gained experience working with high school, collegiate, and professional football, basketball, baseball athletes. BPS clientele included Le'Veon Bell (NFL), Ezekiel Elliot (NFL), Von Miller (NFL), Frank Gore (NFL), Antonio Brown (NFL), Miguel Cabrera (MLB), Hanley Ramirez (MLB), Dion Walters (NBA)  and a multitude of other professional athletes.

Roberts is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is a Certified Heartsaver AED through the American Heart Association. Additionally, Roberts has two certifications through Bommarito Performance Systems, levels 1 and 2, and is a certified through Muscle Activation Techniques with his JumpStart certification.
