Gavin Porter joined the Western Michigan athletics staff in February, 2017 and was promoted to the Operations & Recruiting Assistant in May, 2018.
In his current role, Porter assists the Director of Football Operations in all aspects of the non-coaching activities for the program, including team travel, team meals, summer camps, recruiting, academics, summer camps, special projects and day-to-day operations.
Porter joined the Western Michigan football staff as a student recruiting assistant under former Bronco head coach P.J. Fleck in May of 2015. Porter assisted the coaching staff with all aspects of recruiting operations prior to being promoted to an Operations Assistant under head coach Tim Lester in February of 2017.
A native of Portage, Mich., Porter earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from Western Michigan University in 2018. Porter’s father, Monty, a long time WMU athletic administrator, is currently a Deputy A.D. at the University of Houston.
