David Rowe

David Rowe

David Rowe joined the WMU football program as a defensive graduate assistant prior to the 2014 season. He assists the defensive coaching staff with a focus on the defensive backs, including Thorpe Award Candidate Donald Celiscar.

Rowe is very familiar with head coach P.J. Fleck from his stellar playing career at Rutgers from 2008-12 and as a defensive coaching assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rowe was a three-year starter and four-year letterwinner with the Scarlet Knights. In four seasons he played in 50 games, recording five interceptions and one touchdown from the safety position.

After graduating from Rutgers he was awarded the Bill Walsh Minority Internship. During the internship he helped instruct Darrelle Revis during rehab, learned to break down film and make field and personnel reports and was responsible for determining the offensive personnel and relaying that info to the defense on the field.

From there Rowe was hired by the Buccaneers by his former coach Greg Schiano to work as a defensive coaching assistant. With the Bucs he was responsible for a variety of duties including: breaking down offensive pass concepts, pass route descriptions, constructing detailed tip sheets for wide receivers and recording passing routes for each series during regular season games.
