Will Nimke

Will Nimke is entering his third season as the assistant and pitching coach for the Broncos. Prior to his arrival to the staff in January 2019, he was the assistant coach at Concordia University – Ann Arbor for two seasons.
 
Under the guidance of Nimke during the 2019 season, RHP Brady Miller ranked nationally for fewest walks allowed per nine innings and was named Second Team All-MAC.
 
Nimke was named the student-assistant coach for the Broncos during the 2016 season where the Broncos won their first ever Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship. Their championship win earned them a return to the NCAA Tournament after 27 years. The pitching staff was led by Keegan Akin with 133 strikeouts, breaking the single-season school record previously set in 1999 and was the second highest in MAC history. Akin was the first player in school history to earn MAC Tournament MVP.  Following the season, Akin went on to be drafted in the 2nd round and 54th overall to the  Baltimore Orioles.
 
As a member of Coach Billy Gernon’s first recruiting class at WMU, Nimke was a four-year member of the pitching staff. During his career, Nimke made 53 appearances and 26 starts. Through the 2012 season’s conference play, Nimke led the WMU starting rotation with a record of 2-2 and a 2.78 ERA. During his freshmen campaign he went 4-4 with a 3.74 ERA in 12 starts. Nimke was the first freshmen sense Ethan Hollingsworth in 2006 to throw a complete game against Notre Dame winning 5-4.
 
Nimke holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Michigan University and a Master of Science in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education from Concordia University – Ann Arbor. He and his wife Kelsie currently reside in Portage, Mich.
