PREGAME
  • Akron wins the coin toss and defers.
 
First Quarter
  • Thiago Kapps 48-yard field goal was a career long and the second make from 40+ yards in his career.
  • WMU’s first five plays were rushes.
  • Transfer La’Darius Jefferson makes his WMU debut with a 14-yard rush on WMU’s second drive.
  • D’Wayne Eskridge’s touchdown reception was his first since Oct. 13, 2018 (vs. Bowling Green).
  • Going back to last season’s SERVPRO First Responders Bowl, WMU now has a pick-six in its last two games. It was the first of A.J. Thomas’ career.
 
Second Quarter
  • Kaleb Eleby’s 68-yard touchdown pass to Jaylen Hall was a career-long for both. 
  • WMU’s 30 points are the most in a first half in a road MAC game under head coach Tim Lester.It is also the third-most in a MAC game, the most being 31 vs Kent State (11/8/17) and Ball State (9/30/17).
 
Third Quarter
  • Akron’s punt in the third quarter was the first by either team. 
  • Eleby’s 76-yard TD pass to Eskridge is a new career-long. 
  • Jaxson Kincaide recorded his first career rushing touchdown as a Bronco to give WMU a 43-13 lead. 
 
Fourth Quarter
  • Nick Kargman made his collegiate debut at quarterback for WMU. 
  • Christian Singleton recorded his first career rushing touchdown as a Bronco to put WMU up 57-13.
 
Post-game Notes
  • Eleby’s three touchdown passes were a career-high.
  • This is the fifth time a Tim Lester coached WMU footbal team has scored at least 50 points in a game.
