  • First ever meeting between WMU and Syracuse
  • Second time in last four years WMU has hosted a Power Five school to open the season
  • This will be the eighth time in school history WMU goes up against an ACC opponent
 
First Quarter
  • WMU captains – Justin Tranquil, John Keenoy
  • First career start for WMU wide receiver Jaylen Hall and defensive back Anton Curtis,
  • First career start as a Bronco for wide receiver Drake Harris and defensive back Juwan Dowels
  • WMU running back Davon Tucker carted off field with an injury. Taken to hospital to be evaluated.

  • Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey goes over 100 rushing yards for the game
  • Freshman punter Nick Mihalic with a career long 54-yard punt.
  • Western Michigan freshman running back Chase Brown makes collegiate debut and first career rushing attempt.
  • Syracuse quarterback Tommy DeVito enter game, first collegiate game
  • Junior Najee Clayton with first career sack
  • WMU running back Chase Brown with a 13 yard run, the longest of his career.

Third Quarter:
  • First career fumble recovery by Ali Fayad on the second play of the second half
  • Freshman wide receiver Jayden Reed with his first career reception of 37 yards.
  • Jon Wassink with a 21-yard touchdown pass to D’Wayne Eskridge
  • Eskridge’s fifth career receiving touchdown.
  • 84-yard touchdown pass from Jon Wassink to D’Wayne Eskridge
  • The longest pass and touchdown pass of Wassink’s career
  • Longest reception of Eskridge’s career.
  • Eskridge with a career-high in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns
  • LeVante Bellamy with a 64-yard touchdown run

Fourth Quarter
  • Wassink surpassed his career-high in passing yards
  • Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey goes over 200 rushing yards at the 6:30 mark in the fourth quarter
  • Freshman Jayden Reed with his first career touchdown reception with 2:50 left in the fourth quarter
  • Reed is the first Bronco freshman since D’Wayne Eskridge to have a touchdown reception in his first collegiate game.

Post-Game
  • WMU had 621 total yards of offense, the most since having 645 total yards in WMU’s seven overtime game against Buffalo in 2017
  • D’Wayne Eskridge’s 240 receiving yards is tied for the 12th most in a single game in MAC history.
  • Eskridge became the first Bronco since Corey Davis in 2017 to have 200 yards receiving
  • Eskridge was the first receiver to go over 200 yards against Syracuse since Ernest Wilford of Virginia Tech in 2001
  • The duo of Jayden Reed and D’Wayne Eskridge became the first pair of Bronco receivers since Corey Davis and Michael Henry vs. Buffalo to have 100 receiving yards in a single game.
  • Jon Wassink threw for a career-high 379 yards and had a career-high 36 attempts
