WMU vs. Wagner Post Game Quotes

WMU Head Coach Tim Lester
Thoughts on the game…
“I thought we played really well at the line of scrimmage, we rushed for 362 yards and held them to 56. I was happy with all the people that got to play, we got a ton of people reps today and we’ll learn a lot from the film to figure out who is ready to get into the rotation with the ones.

Jon was 11-12 so that’s a pretty good day, I was proud of the way he played. I was proud of the guys up front with the unique lineup we had today.”

Senior RB Jarvion Franklin
“I was really proud of the o-line, really proud of the running backs who stepped it, not just myself but Jamauri, Davon, and Leo. Getting the running game going really takes the pressure off Jon, the receivers, and the defense.”

Redshirt sophomore WR Keishawn Watson
“It’s easier to throw the ball when you have guys run the ball that well because the safeties have to come down and it gives us an opportunity to get over the top of them.“

Senior linebacker Asantay Brown
“We just really listened to the coaches and bought into the game plan we had this week. We have a lot of younger guys and we have to bring them along as older guys to help them learn from these games and carry over the good things into conference play. Just because you’re a young guy doesn’t mean you can’t make plays.”

Wagner Head Coach Jason Houghtaling
Thoughts on the game…
“I thought the guys played hard. The ending score was what it was. We have to look at what we did right and build on that. I thought we won the turn over battle and controlled the clock. We just did not run it well enough, and we let them run it too well.”

On Special Teams…
“Eric (Silvester) has been doing a great job punting the football. From a field goal perspective, we still have a lot of work to do. There will be a competition starting there tomorrow.”

On Western Michigan…
“You have to credit Western Michigan; they have a great program. They are coached really well with great players.”
