Game Notes vs. Akron – 10/15/2017
Pre-Game:
  • Game was postponed due to lightning and heavy rain on Saturday which had the field submerged in water. Overall, approximately 1.4 million gallons of water was drained from Waldo Stadium.
  • It’s the first MAC regular season game played on Sunday since Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006 when Miami defeated Buffalo, 38-31.
First Quarter:
  • WMU outgained Akron, 128-27 in the first quarter.
  • End of the first quarter: Akron 7, WMU 0
Second Quarter:
  • Josh Grant makes a career-high 49-yard field goal to get WMU on the board
  • It’s the first time WMU has trailed at the half in a MAC regular season game since trailing 14-10 at Kent State on Nov. 11, 2016
  • WMU with 210 total yards compared to Akron’s 147
  • Halftime: WMU 3, Akron 14
Third Quarter:
  • Broncos force back-to-back three and outs to begin the third quarter.
  • End of the third quarter: WMU
Foruth Quarter:
  • Asantay Brown with his first interception of the season and fourth of his career.
  • John Wassink to D’Wayne Eskridge for 50 yards and the first passing touchdown of the day for the Broncos.
  • Career-long 50-yard touchdown reception for Eskridge
  • 35-yard field goal  by Josh Grant is good for his second of the day.
  • Jarvion Franklin goes over 100 yards for the 18th time in his career.
  • Final: WMU 13, Akron 14
Post Game:
  • Jarvion Franklin – 51 career TD’s, two shy of breaking career record at WMU by Corey Davis who has 52 in his career.
