KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan University football team fell to 2-2 on the season after losing to the 31st-ranked Boise State Broncos (3-1), 32-7, on Saturday on Stafford-Smith Field at Waldo Stadium, before 29,700, the largest crowd at home since 2015.
WMU's lone touchdown came in the fourth quarter when redshirt junior running back
Cole Cabana bulled over from the 2-yard line for his first career touchdown. It capped a five-play, 46-yard drive which took 1:55 to complete. Backup quarterback redshirt sophomore
Trey Petty started the drive with a 27-yard run up the middle. Four plays later, Cabana scored.

Broc Lowry in the fourth quarter, led Western Michigan in rushing with 41 yards on 2 carries. Redshirt sophomore wide receiver
Emazon Littlejohn added 26 yards on two carries. All told, WMU had 122 rushing cards and a 5.12-yards per carry average. Redshirt senior
Jalen Buckley did a little bit of everything for WMU. The running back was the leading receiver with 4 catches for 29 yards and he added 18 yards rushing. Lowry, a redshirt junior, completed 15 of 28 passes for 110 yards.
Defensively, junior cornerback
Joshua Franklin was Western Michigan's leading tackler with  five solo tackles and five assists. Sophomore linebacker
Brenden Anes added eight tackles and redshirt sophomore linebacker Justin Betts and redshirt senior linebacker
Domanick Moon each added six tackles.
Boise State scored on the game's opening drive then added a touchdown in the second quarter, two more in the third quarter and one more in the fourth quarter.
Western Michigan hits the road next Saturday, opening the Mid-American Conference portion of the schedule with a 1 p.m. game at Buffalo on ESPN+. WMU returns home on Oct. 10 for a Homecoming game against Kent State.
