KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan University men's soccer team was shutout by the Seattle U Redhawks 3-0.
The Broncos outshot the Redhawks 15 to 12 on Sunday afternoon. With a season-high 11 shots on goal, WMU wasn't able to crack Seattle U goalkeeper Aleksander Kapciak in the loss. Offensive leader
Vitor Geromel set a new career high in 87 minutes on Sunday, taking six shots with four on net. Three other members of the Brown and Gold had multiple shots on the afternoon with seven total players recording at least one attempt.

Braden Stevanovic put the ball in the back of the net. But the goal was overturned briefly after it happened due to the Broncos being offside. Over the next 35 minutes, it was a possession battle as neither side maintained control for long. WMU recorded three shots before a rush for the Redhawks scored their first goal of the match in the 43
rd minute.
The second half began as the first ended with Seattle U scoring quickly to double its lead. The Redhawks offense didn't let up even after a shot from Geromel forced a diving save from Kapciak. The final goal of the match was scored in the 55
th minute for Seattle U. WMU put together a valiant counterattack after the third goal with 10 shots and eight on target in the final 35 minutes. But the Brown and Gold didn't find the back of the net over the last stretch of play in the 3-0 loss.
Western Michigan has one more home match in its three game homestand later this week. The Broncos welcome #18 Cornell to Kalamazoo for the first time on Saturday after playing the Big Red in Ithaca last year. The second match of the home-and-home series is set for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff on September 19.
