CLEVELAND – Western Michigan graduate student pitcher
Ricky Kidd has been named the MAC Pitcher of the Week for the final week of the regular season, the conference office announced on Monday.
Kidd threw 6.0 scoreless frames for the second consecutive start, limiting Northern Illinois to two hits while piling up a career-high six strikeouts on the way to his team-leading eighth win of the season.
The victory clinched the weekend series for the Brown and Gold and improved the right hander's record to 7-0 in 11 MAC starts. In conference play, Kidd tied for the league lead in wins (7), ranked second in ERA (2.96) and third in innings pitched (67.0).
Next up for Kidd and the Broncos is the Mid-American Conference Championship, which is slated to begin on Wednesday at ForeFront Field in Avon, Ohio. Five-seeded Western Michigan is slated to open its tournament run against No. 4 seed NIU at 6 pm on
ESPN+.
