KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team improved to 3-2 in Mid-American Conference play after a 5-2 win over Bowling Green at Sorensen Courts on Friday afternoon.
BGSU actually got the upper-hand on the Broncos (12-6, 3-2 MAC) early on after taking the doubles point, with wins at No. 1 and No. 3.
WMU rallied early on in singles play, with
Lola Glantz picking up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Tia Clemens at No. 1. Sophomore
Sienna Osborne gave the Broncos the lead after a 6-4, 6-4 win over Konstantina Adamopoulou at No. 5. Sophomore
Frida Weijerman pushed the lead to 3-1 after a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 over Kiera Taylor. Senior
Audrey Smitek picked up the match-winning point at No. 2, with a 5-7, 6-3, 3-2 win after Qianyu Liu had to retire in the third set.
The fifth and final point came from
Polina Khotko, who picked up a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 win at No. 6 over Leticia Fonseca.
Western Michigan is back in action on Friday, hosting MAC-leaders UMASS at 12 p.m.
