LAST WEEK
The Broncos (11-6, 2-2 MAC) split a pair of tough matches at Toledo and at home against Ball State. WMU opened the weekend with a 4-3 loss to the Rockets, but rebounded with a dramatic 4-3 win over the Cardinals on Sunday. Sophomore
Frida Weijerman won a tie-breaker third set 7-6 (7-0) to clinch the match victory for Western Michigan, improving the team to 2-2 in MAC play this season.
DYNAMIC DUO
The Western Michigan doubles team of
Frida Weijerman and
Marielou Baudouin earned MAC Doubles Team of the Week honors after helping the Broncos pick up the doubles point against the Rockets and the Cardinals.
The pair have been perfect in dual matches this Spring. They are 8-0 overall and now 4-0 in MAC play.Â
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
Bowling Green (8-9, 1-3 MAC) heads to Kalamazoo for its third-straight road match. BGSU dropped its previous two at Ball State back on March 27, 5-2, and at Miami, 4-3, on March 22. The Falcons picked up their first conference win in two years back on March 20, defeating Eastern Michigan 4-3.Â
ON THE HORIZON
Western Michigan faces the top two teams in the MAC next weekend, hosting MAC-leaders UMASS on Friday at 12 p.m. Â Prior to the start of the match, the Broncos will honor its senior class of
Lola Glantz,
Polina Khotko and
Audrey Smitek. WMU then heads out to Buffalo to take on the second-place Bulls on Sunday at 12 p.m.Â
