HILLSDALE, Mich. -- Freshman thrower Sierra Sommers posted a top-10 mark in the discus to lead the Broncos at the Hillsdale Gina Relays this weekend. 

Sommers collected the ninth best mark in program history, launching the discus an impressive 48.23 meters. That was good for third in the event. She also claimed fourth in the shot put (13.64 meters) and seventh in the hammer throw (46.35 meters).

Sticking with the throws, Tess Van Dyk secured third in the shot put (14.19 meters) and fifth in the discus (45.95 meters). Closing out the throwing events, Katie Nichols made her college debut in the javelin. She had a a top throw of 23.06 meters. 

Laurie-Ann Desormes also had a great weekend, competing in both the 100 and 200-meter dash. She clocked a 25.70 in the 200 to finish second, while crossing the finish line in 12.00 in the 100. 

Jade Celestine put together a quality weekend, qualifying for the 100-meter hurdles final. She went on to claim sixth in the race with a time of 14.21. She then claimed seventh in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.90. 

To close out the competition, Anichka Malachi had a strong set of marks in the long jump. She concluded the event in sixth with a top leap of 5.62 meters.
