SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Western Michigan baseball team fell, 14-3, at #23 Notre Dame in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday.

The Broncos opened the scoring in the top of the first.
Cooper Hums drew a one-out free pass, moved to second when
Michael Maloney was hit by a pitch, raced over to third on a wild pitch and then scored on a
Mark Mennecke ground ball.
Notre Dame answered quickly, plating five in the first and one in the second to grab a 6-1 edge.
WMU pulled one back in the third.
Mason Pilarski led off with the first of his two hits, a double, and then came around later in the frame on an
Avery Thielman sacrifice fly.
The Fighting Irish responded once again in the home half, pushing across six, four of which were unearned.
Pilarski scored again for the Broncos in the fourth, coming in from first base on an RBI double by
Drew Howard.
Notre Dame tallied the final two runs of the contest in the bottom of the fourth.
Evan Shapiro worked scoreless fifth and sixth frames out of the WMU bullpen, holding the hosts without a hit and striking out three.
