Men's Tennis Splits With Wisconsin and Omaha

MADISON, Wis. -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team split a pair of matches at the University of Wisconsin over the weekend, falling to the Badgers 6-1 on Friday and rebounding with a 5-2 win over Omaha on Saturday. 

In Friday's loss to the Badgers, WMU's lone point came from Ashton Adesoro at No. 1 singles. Adesoro defeat Michael Minasyan 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7). In doubles, Alex Antonopolous and Oscar Corwin pushed UW for the point with a win at No. 1 over Oliver Olsson and Tomas Zlatohlavek 6-3. 

In Saturday's win, the Broncos started out securing the doubles point. Adesoro and Jack Davison gave WMU the early advantage with a 6-3 win at No. 3 over Liam Spiers and Christian Trevey. Antonopoulos and Corwin then clinched it with a 7-5 win at No. 1.

Tim Riedel gave WMU a 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Christian Trevey. Adesoro then pushed the lead to 3-0 with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Spiers at No. 1. Corwin clinched the match victory over the Mavericks with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Pavan Uppu at No. 4. Chen-Hui Ho picked up WMU's fifth and final point with a 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (10-6) victory at No. 5 over Ethan Gaubert. 

The Broncos are back on the road next weekend to take on Purdue and Yale.
