KALAMAZOO, Mich -- It was a defensive battle at the WMU Soccer Complex as the Broncos fell at home on Sunday to Bowling Green by a final score of 1-0. WMU falls to 3-1-1 in conference play this season.
FIRST HALF
It was a possession battle in Kalamazoo on Sunday. Bowling Green asserted themselves early by controlling possession and generating a few chances but the Broncos were able to tame the energy. From there the teams continued battling back and forth on defense.
The Broncos would receive a scoring chance early in the half from
Camryn Huhn, who fired a shot to the top right of the net but the BGSU goalie was able to get too it.
June Mullen would also record a shot on goal that was also saved by BGSU.
With both teams in a battle for possession, the half ended at 0-0.
SECOND HALF
The defensive battle between both teams continued as neither team was able to earn momentum early in the second half.
From there, the Broncos would make an offensive push throughout the second half generating a couple chances from
Camryn Huhn,
Tessa Fagerson, and
Kaiya Stewart. The Bowling Green goalie was able to get too each of the shots, keeping the game knotted at zero through the first 65 minutes. In the 69th minute, Bowling Green would get their breakthrough after the Bronco defense gave up a wide open look. BGSU took advantage of the opportunity, going up 1-0 with 20 minutes left to play.
In the closing minutes, the Broncos would attempt to even the score but ultimately the Falcons were able to fend them off. The game ended 1-0 Bowling Green.

The Broncos are back at home on Oct. 11 as they take on Buffalo. The game is slated to kick off at 1 pm.
