INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team rolled past Butler, 6-1, on the road for its fifth win of the season on Friday afternoon.
WMU (5-1) picked up the doubles point
Ashton Adesoro and
Drew Evans defeated Nichols Arts and Nicholas Shirley, 6-2, at No. 1. The point was secured after the 80th ranked duo of Alex Antopolous and
Oscar Corwin earned a 6-3 win at No. 1 over Riccardo Baldi and Arnesh Singh.
The lead expanded to 2-0 after Corwin made quick work of Siddhartha 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4.
Chen-Hui Ho then pushed WMU's lead to 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 over Ronin Kasday. The match was clinched with Antonopoulos earning a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win over Arts in his first-ever match played at No. 1. Adesoro made it 5-0 with a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5) win at No. 2 against Baldi. WMU's sixth and final point came from
Jonas Keck defeating Nicholas Balthazar 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.
The Broncos are back on the road next weekend, heading to Wisconsin to take on the Badgers on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and then Omaha on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
