KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Western Michigan University Athletics finished at the top of the Mid-American Conference and third among Group of 6 schools in the 2025-26 Learfield Directors Cup Fall Standings. The Broncos rank 57th among institutions with FBS football and finished the fall ahead of 21 Power 4 schools.
"Our student-athletes, coaches, and staff continue to elevate within the City of Champions," said Vice President/Director of Athletics, Dan Bartholomae. "After two consecutive finishes at the top of the MAC, we are proud to be in the top 57 programs in the country and 3rd overall amongst the Group of 6 after another historic Fall."
The Broncos fall season highlights include:
- Football: Won its fourth Mid-American Conference Championship in program history and then its third bowl victory after WMU defeated Kennesaw State at the Myrtle Beach Bowl.
- Women's Soccer: Won its third-straight MAC Regular Season Championship and then won the MAC Tournament to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
- Men's Soccer: Won the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament and then advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament after upsetting Clemson.
- Cross Country: Placed 13th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
