KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball team dropped a 72-54 contest to Bowling Green on Tuesday evening at University Arena.
Justice Williams led Western Michigan (7-12, 1-6 MAC) in scoring for the third consecutive game with 18 points.
Max Burton nearly posted a double-double, tallying eight points and a team-leading 10 rebounds.
The Broncos held an 8-7 edge five minutes into the contest, but Bowling Green (13-6, 4-3) rattled off 10 consecutive points to move in front, 17-8. After the visitors increased the margin to 22-12, Western Michigan embarked on an 11-2 run to close the gap to 24-23. BGSU countered with the final eight points of the period to take a 32-23 advantage into the locker room.
The Falcons carried the momentum into the second half, notching 12 of the first 16 points after the break to boost their lead to 44-27. At 47-29, WMU notched seven in a row to trim the margin back to 47-36. The Broncos got as close as 49-39 at the halfway mark of the period, but Bowling Green maintained a double-digit advantage for the rest of the night.
WMU struggled from the field, hitting just 19-of-56 (33.9 percent) for the evening. Bowling Green went 24-of-56 (42.9 percent) from the floor.
