Broncos Vault to No. 3 in National Polls

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Coming off of its seventh straight win, Western Michigan made a big jump in the national polls, which were released this afternoon.

The Broncos leaped to No. 3 in the USCHO poll, moving up three spots from last week. In the USA Hockey rankings, the Brown and Gold checked in at No. 4, seeing a two-spot rise from last week. Michigan, Wisconsin, WMU, Michigan State and North Dakota were the top five in the USCHO poll, while WMU and MSU swapped places in the USA Hockey rankings.

WMU was the highest rated NCHC team this week, but North Dakota, Minnesota Duluth and Denver were also ranked in the top 10. Arizona State, St. Cloud State, Miami and Colorado College were receiving votes. Omaha was the lone conference team to not be recognized in the national rankings.

Western Michigan is off this week and will be back on the ice at Minnesota Duluth on Jan. 23-24. The series opener is slated to begin at 8 PM ET.
