Women's Soccer Picks Up Fourth Straight Win

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's soccer team collected its fourth straight win, defeating DePaul 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at the WMU Soccer Complex.

Avery Peters and Meredith Vance picked up their first goals in the Brown and Gold, while Drew Martin tallied an assist. Reagan Sulaver added her second career shutout, making two saves in net.

FIRST HALF
After handling a DePaul shot in the opening minute, WMU started to settle in. It wasn't long before the Broncos' attack was able to breakthrough. The Blue Demons turned the ball over, and Peters took care of business. She found the back of the net for her first goal of the season in the 13th minute.

A little bit later, Abby Werthman nearly made it 2-0, as her shot missed wide left of the net in the 20th minute. Vance then tried her luck in the 23rd minute, having her shot go off target.

Down the stretch, Martin would get one last look on net for the Brown and Gold. The Blue Demons were there to stop the chance, and the Broncos carried a one-goal lead into the second half of play.

SECOND HALF
The Blue Demons came out aggressive, getting the first shot of the second half. That opportunity missed the net. A few moments after that, Peters tried her luck and just missed the goal.

After some back-and-forth action, DePaul's goaltender got a bit too aggressive and WMU was able to strike again. Vance buried the shot into the empty net to make it 2-0 in the 70th minute.

From there, Western Michigan stayed on the attack. Olivia Brunink nearly made it 3-0 in the 78th minute, having her shot tipped over the net. Down the stretch, Vance had one last look for the Brown and Gold. Her shot missed left of the net, and the Broncos went on to close out a 2-0 victory.
