KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Fresh off of another NCAA Tournament run in 2024, the Western Michigan men's soccer team and head coach
Chad Wiseman have announced the 2025 schedule, which features 11 games in Kalamazoo.
The Broncos will open the season with their annual Brown and Gold game on Aug. 6 at 5 PM. That will be followed by a trio of exhibitions, featuring two road matches against Oakland (Aug. 8) and Indiana (Aug. 11) with a home game against Xavier (Aug. 15).
The regular season opens with a Sun Belt opponent coming to Kalamazoo, as Kentucky is in town for a 5:30 PM start on Aug. 21. The last meeting between the two teams came back in 2021. WMU hasn't hosted the Wildcats since a 1-0 victory in 2004. The Brown and Gold will then host Dayton on Aug. 24. The two teams tied last season at the Historic Crew Stadium, and Dayton was top 16 seed in 2024 NCAA Tournament.
Western Michigan will then have its first road test of the season, squaring off with Wisconsin on Aug. 29. That game is set for 7 PM. However, the Broncos return home to play New Hampshire on Sept. 1 as part of the program's annual Soccer Fest. UNH was the American East Regular Season champion, which featured national champion Vermont.
Then, the Brown and Gold hit the road for three straight matches, beginning with Butler on Sept. 5. From there, WMU travels to Akron (Sept. 9) and Cornell (Sept. 13). Akron was the Big East Champion last season, while Cornell was a top 16 seed in the NCAA Tournament. WMU's matchup with Cornell will be the first ever meeting between the two programs.
A pair of home games are up next, with Adrian College and Belmont in town on Sept. 22 and Sept. 26, respectively. WMU's match against Belmont is the team's Missouri Valley Conference opener. After getting some conference action, Western Michigan will head south for a match against South Florida on Sept. 30. Then, Evansville will host the Broncos on Oct. 4.
A two-game homestand is up next, as Detroit (Oct. 8) and Northern Illinois (Oct. 11) head to Kalamazoo. WMU outscored those two opponents by a combined 6-2 last season. After a game at Bradley on Oct. 18, the Broncos will close out their home schedule with games against Bowling Green (Oct. 25) and Drake (Oct. 31). To end conference play, UIC will host the Brown and Gold on Nov. 5.
The MVC Tournament kicks off on Nov. 9 with the quarterfinal round taking place at campus sites of the higher seed in each matchup. The semifinals and finals will then be played at the site of the highest remaining seed. Western Michigan won the conference tournament on home field back in 2023.
