Anton Arzhankin and Logan Case Honored with MAC Medal of Excellence

CLEVELAND - Anton Arzhankin from the men's tennis program and Logan Case of the volleyball program have been honored as Western Michigan University's recipients of the MAC Medal of Excellence Award. The duo will be recognized alongside the winners from the other 11 MAC schools at the conference's 2025 Honors Dinner Ceremony on Thursday, May 29th.

The Medal of Excellence is presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each of the MAC's 12 member institutions. To receive the Medal of Excellence Award, student-athletes must have participated at the varsity level in a Conference-sponsored sport, maintained a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA, and demonstrated excellence in athletics, leadership and service. Selection of the recipients is made by each institution.

"These Medal of Excellence recipients truly embody what it means to be a MAC student-athlete," MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher said. "Their accomplishments in the classroom and in competition, along with their leadership and community involvement, reflect their outstanding character and dedication. We are honored to recognize them and the meaningful difference they make both on campus and beyond."

Arzhankin and Case received the honor after wrapping up historic careers in their respective sports. Arzhankin is the first four-time First Team All-MAC honoree in WMU Men's Tennis history and was named the MAC Player of the Year in 2025. He helped the Broncos to MAC Regular Season Championships in 2022, 2023 and 2024. He helped WMU win the MAC Tournament Championship in 2022, where he was named the MAC Tournament MVP as a freshman. The Moscow, Russia, native was also a three-time Academic All-MAC Team selection and a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete, graduating with a degree in computer science with a 3.82.

A five-time All-MAC First Team selection, Case was named MAC Tournament MVP for the second straight season last fall after helping the Broncos to their second consecutive MAC Tournament title and NCAA Tournament appearance. In the MAC Tournament Championship Match against Ball State, she became the Mid-American Conference's all-time leader in assists, and finished her career with the fifth-most assists (6,476) in NCAA Division I history. Following the season, she was voted a College Sports Communicators Academic All-American for the third straight year. Owner of a 4.00 GPA, Case graduated from WMU back in December with a degree in French.
