Four Broncos Earn All-MAC Honors

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Mid-American Conference announced its All-MAC Teams this afternoon, with the list being headlined by a quartet of Broncos. Sandra Ferrari, Mabinty Kebe, Lily Overton and Bri'Yanna Robinson were all honored for their performances at the MAC Championships.

Ferrari collected All-MAC First Team honors after a brilliant showing at the conference meet. She won the long jump with a school record mark of 6.29 meters. That also pushed her into the top 50 in the NCAA in the event. Along with her championship, she also finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles and helped the 4x100 relay team post a sixth-place finish. She will compete in the long jump at next week's NCAA East Preliminaries.

Kebe was also an All-MAC first team honoree, thanks to a phenomenal weekend in Athens, Ohio. She won the 400-meter hurdles, breaking the MAC Championship meet record in the process. Her mark of 57.46 also moved her into second in program history. Outside of that, she also finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles, securing a PR time of 13.59. She will compete in the 400-meter hurdles at the upcoming NCAA East Preliminaries.

Overton nabbed All-MAC Second Team recognition after running one of the best races of her career. She came into the 3K steeplechase as one of the lower seeded runners, but she was able to register a PR time of 10:44.11 to steal second place. She used a late kick at the end to pass multiple runners. This is the first All-MAC honor of her career.

Robinson joined Overton on the All-MAC Second Team, thanks to a dominant weekend in the throwing events. She finished second in the discus (49.98 meters), third in the shot put (15.62 meters) and fourth in the hammer throw (56.50 meters) to earn 19 points for the team. Robinson will now compete in the shot put at the NCAA East Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Fla. next week.

Western Michigan has seen rapid improvement in its track and field program since Kevin Cataldo took over in 2023. Since becoming the head coach, WMU has produced one All-American, four MAC Champions and seven All-MAC performers in outdoor competition.
