HOME SWEET HOME
Western Michigan resumes Mid-American Conference play this weekend as it welcomes in Bowling Green for a three-game series. The Broncos are 27-13 at home over the last three seasons and 24-9 in MAC games over that span. The Brown and Gold have won nine of their last 11 home conference series and swept a three-game set from Akron in their last home MAC series from March 21-22.

LAST TIME OUT
The Broncos dropped two out of three in a non-conference series against The Citadel at Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field last weekend. After the Bulldogs took the first two games of the series, the Western Michigan trio of Reese Gaber (6.0 IP), DJ Thompson (2.0 IP) and Turner Doran (1.0 IP) combined to toss a no-hitter in a 6-0 victory to close out the series on Sunday.

TERRIFIC TRIO NO-HITS BULLDOGS
The Western Michigan trio of Reese Gaber (6.0 IP), DJ Thompson (2.0 IP) and Turner Doran (1.0 IP) combined to toss a no-hitter on Sunday against The Citadel. It marked the 17th no-hitter in program history and first since John Stewart threw a perfect game against Akron in 1997. WMU is one of 10 different NCAA Division I programs to have a no-hitter this season, while reigning national champion Tennessee has thrown two.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
For the second time in the last three weeks, Reese Gaber was named MAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday. The lefty tossed the first 6.0 innings of Sunday's combined no-hitter and racked up a season-high seven strikeouts. Gaber has kept the opponent off of the scoreboard in three of his last four starts, shutting out Michigan on one hit over 6.0 innings on March 18 and no-hitting Northwestern over 4.0 scoreless frames on March 25.

POWER SCHEDULING
As has been the case the past several years, WMU loaded up its non-conference schedule, and has already played 11 games against Power Conference foes. The Broncos have won three in a row against Power Conference opponents, shutting out Michigan, 6-0, beating Northwestern, 2-1, and winning at Notre Dame, 5-4, over the last three weeks. Western Michigan boasts the 28th-most difficult non-conference schedule in NCAA Division I.

SERIES HISTORY
Western Michigan owns a 99-70 advantage in the all-time series with Bowling Green. The Broncos took three out of the four meetings last season, including an 11-0 win in the MAC Tournament which sent the Brown and Gold to the Championship Game. WMU swept the Falcons the last time they came to Kalamazoo in 2023, which marked the first sweep of BGSU since 2013 and the first time Western Michigan had swept Bowling Green at home since 2012.

FOCUS ON THE FALCONS
Bowling Green boasts one of the top offenses in the league, hitting .304 as a team which tops the MAC and is inside the top-50 in the nation. The Falcons are led by the duo of Garrett Wright and DJ Newman, who are hitting .422 and .419, respectively, coming into the series. BGSU's Brady Birchmeier has eight home runs and is fourth in the conference with 40 RBIs.

TANNER AT THE TOP
Western Michigan leadoff hitter Tanner Mally comes into the week hitting .385, the fourth-highest mark in the MAC, and reaching base at a .473 clip which ranks sixth. The sophomore paces the Broncos in several other offensive categories as well, including hits (42), runs scored (26), hit by pitches (11) and triples (2), while ranking second on the team with 11 stolen bases. Mally has reached base in 19 consecutive games, the longest active streak and second-longest overall streak this season for WMU.

LOOK AT MEE
After ranking second on the Broncos with 10 stolen bases last season, Grady Mee has been turned loose on the basepaths even more in 2025. The junior comes into the weekend with 15 stolen bases, tied for the MAC lead. He has also helped Western Michigan's offense rank third in the conference and 67th in the nation with 18 sacrifice bunts, having laid down four, which is one shy of the league lead.
