TAMPA, Fla. -- The Western Michigan softball team dropped the final game of its trip to Florida, falling 6-1, at the University of North Florida on Tuesday afternoon.
UNF pitcher Allison Benning held the Broncos hit-less in four innings of work, striking out seven Broncos. Benning also went 3-for-3 with two runs scored.
Riley Dittmar drove in the Broncos' lone run with a double to right-center in the top of the sixth.
North Florida took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Kelsey Vogel, driving in Benning. UNF then added five runs in the bottom of the third on a two-run home run by Kristen Caravaca and a three-run home run by Chloe Culp.
Western Michigan heads to Bloomington, Ind., for the Hoosier Classic, beginning on Saturday. WMU takes on UI Indy and IU on Saturday and then UIC and the Jaguars again on Sunday.
