Broncos Earn One Seed in NCAA Tournament, Set to Play Minnesota State in Fargo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – After collecting 30 wins and winning both the regular season and tournament titles in the NCHC, Western Michigan will be a one seed in the NCAA Tournament in the Fargo Regional.

The Broncos will square off with Minnesota State on Thursday, March 27 at Scheels Arena. Game time is set for 5 PM on ESPNU. This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams. Minnesota and UMASS will play in the other regional semifinal. The two winners will meet up on Saturday, March 29. 

WMU has now made four straight NCAA Tournament appearances, which is a program record. Under head coach Pat Ferschweiler, Western Michigan has never missed the big dance. This is the program's 10th national tournament appearance. 

On the season, the Broncos hold a 30-7-1 record. Those 30 wins are the most in the country so far this season. The Brown and Gold have also lost just four times in regulation this season. WMU was 19-4-1 in conference play, winning the Penrose Cup by 10 points. Those 19 wins matched an NCHC record.
