Women's Tennis Hosts EMU and NIU on Friday and Sunday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team returns home to host Eastern Michigan on Friday at 12 p.m. and Northern Illinois on Sunday at 12 p.m. Both matches will be at West Hills Athletic Club. 

Admission is free, with live scoring available at www.wmustats.com.

LAST WEEK
The Broncos opened MAC play on the road at Ball State, falling to the Cardinals 6-1. Freshman Marielou Baudouin picked up WMU's lone point, with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Isabel Tranjuatco.

BOUNCEBACKABILITY
So far this season, WMU has only loss back-to-back matches once. The Broncos dropped a match at Michigan State and then fell to Youngstown State at home. WMU bounced back after its loss against YSU with a win over Cleveland State. After a loss at Illinois, the Broncos defeated Chicago State and after a loss to UIC, they picked up a win over Oakland.  

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Eastern Michigan is 7-7 overall and 0-1 in MAC play heading into Friday's match. The Eagles opened conference play last Sunday at Northern Illinois, falling 5-2. Junior Daniella Shved has been EMU's most consistent at No. 1, going 3-4 so far this season. 

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
Northern Illinois is off to a fantastic start. With the win over EMU, they improved to 14-3 in dual matches this season and are 6-2 away from home. NIU also picked up a win over Wisconsin-Whitewater last Sunday. The three losses have come against Missouri (4-3), Wisconsin (6-1) and Cornell (6-1).

ON THE HORIZON
Western Michigan heads to Eastern Michigan next Friday for a 12 p.m. match and then its back to Kalamazoo to host the Rockets on Sunday at noon.
