CLEVELAND -- The Western Michigan women's basketball season came to an end on Wednesday as the Broncos fell to top-seeded Ball State, 82-53, at Rocket Arena.
Marina Asensio led WMU with 22 points and also had five assists. Graduate student
Hannah Spitzley had a double-double in her final game as a Bronco, scoring 15 points and picking up 10 rebounds. Western Michigan shot 35 percent (21-of-60) from the field and 28.6 percent (6-for-21) from three. The Cardinals had six players in double figures.
Ball State jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter, heading into the second up 25-15. The Broncos were limited to five points in the second quarter as BSU's lead grew to 38-20 at the half. WMU's scoring picked up in the third, scoring 20 points, but the Cardinals outpaced them.
