Cole Crusberg-Roseen. Leading 2-0, WMU committed the first penalty of the game.
However, SCSU was unable to generate much offense. The Huskies got two shots on net, but WMU was able to work its way back to full strength. Not too long after that, the Brown and Gold made it a 3-0 game thanks to a goal from Henricks.
Western Michigan got more good looks down the stretch, but nothing would find the back of the net. WMU carried a three-goal lead into the middle frame.
SECOND PERIOD
St. Cloud State scored just over a minute into the second frame to bring the score back within two. However, a few minutes later, the Huskies were sent off for cross checking. The Broncos would get a few strong chances, but SCSU worked its way back to full strength.
Not even five seconds after the penalty expired, Western Michigan was able to tally its fourth goal of the night. Washe tipped a Slukynsky shot to make it a 4-1 game. The offense didn't stop there, as Kramer scored his first goal as a Bronco just a few minutes later.
Tristan Lemyre chipped the puck to
Iiro Hakkarainen. He then fired a pass to Kramer who tipped the puck into the back of the net to make it a 5-1 game with under 10 minutes to play in the middle period.
Down the stretch, SCSU would get another look on the power play. The Huskies only got one shot on net, and the Brown and Gold worked back to even strength. The Broncos carried a four-goal lead into the final period of play.
THIRD PERIOD
St. Cloud State opened the period with a penalty, giving the Broncos a good power play chance.

This time, Costantini would find the back of the net to give WMU a five-goal lead with under eight minutes to play in the game. Down the stretch, Western Michigan would get one more opportunity on the power play.
