Gymnastics Welcomes NIU and UW-Whitewater on Sunday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan gymnastics team hosts Northern Illinois and Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday for Taylor Swift Day at 1 p.m. at University Arena.

Fans can make their own Taylor Swift inspired bracelets at the meet.

The meet will be streamed live at www.wmubroncos.com/watch.

The Broncos are looking for their third-straight victory in Mid-American Conference competition. Last week WMU defeated Bowling Green 195.325-192.325 on the road. Back on Feb. 9, Western Michigan earned a win over Eastern Michigan at University Arena with a score of 194.825-193.975. WMU is 2-2 in conference competition and 3-0 overall at home.

With the performance against the Falcons, WMU has moved up to 40th in the nation, according to RoadtoNationals.com. This gets the Broncos closer to the top-36 position they need to make the NCAA Tournament.

Northern Illinois ranks 54th in the nation, sixth in the MAC, and is 1-1 in conference competition, with a win over Eastern Michigan and a loss to Kent State. The Huskies posted their highest score of the season, a 193.550, last weekend against the Golden Flashes. NIU's Kiera O'Shea is the top vaulter in the conference, with a NQS of 9.815 and a high score of 9.850. O'Shea has won on vault in each of the last five meets for the Huskies.

UW-Whitewater competes at the Division III level and has an average score of 191.890.

Western Michigan is back in action on Thursday night in a non-conference dual meet at Eastern Michigan, beginning at 6 p.m.
