NORMAL, Ill. -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team dropped both of its road matches on the weekend, falling at Purdue, 6-1, on Friday and then at Illinois State, 5-2, on Sunday.

Anton Arzhankin and sophomore
Drew Evans put the pressure on the Boilermakers early on in doubles, with a quick 6-1 win over Nour Fathalla and Stefan Simeunovic at No. 2. But Purdue responded with a pair of 6-3 wins at No. 1 and No. 3 to take the point.
In singles, Arzhankin was the lone Bronco to earn a point with a 6-7 (8-10), 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) win at No. 1 over Aleksa Krivokapic. Freshman
Oscar Corwin went up a set on Simeunovic at No. 4, but dropped the second set 6-2 and then the super tie-breaker 1-0 (10-7).

Evans and Arzhankin won again in doubles on Sunday, but were unable to secure the point for the Broncos.
In singles, Arzhankin earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1 against Tomas Valencia. Corwin then earned a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5 over Caden Scarlett to mark WMU's two points on the day.
The Broncos have a pair of home double-headers next weekend. On Friday, WMU battles Butler at 9 a.m. and then Purdue Northwest at 6 p.m. On Sunday, the Broncos take on Eastern Illinois at 9:30 a.m. and then Wayne State at 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.
