COLUMBUS, Ohio – Western Michigan freshman
Brady Swartz had 20 points and nine rebounds in a 91-58 loss at Ohio State on Thursday night.
Swartz led the Broncos (2-4) in both categories, with the 20 points tying his career high and the nine boards establishing a new career-best.
Jayden Brewer was also in double-figures for Western Michigan with 12 points.
Ohio State (5-0) started fast, taking a 15-4 advantage in the early stages of the contest. Western Michigan came back with a 9-3 stretch, closing the gap to 18-12 on the first of Swartz's four three-pointers. The next 17 points and 23 of the next 25 went to the Buckeyes, stretching the margin to 41-14. The Broncos tallied the final five points of the half, including a buzzer-beating, triple by Swartz to make it 49-24 at the break. The Brown and Gold drew no closer after the intermission.
WMU was 21-of-62 (33.9 percent) shooting for the evening, while Ohio State made 32-of-65 (49.2 percent) from the floor.
